Four to six year old children tried to address a series of theory of mind tasks that had been exploited by Wellman & Liu (2004) and their mother reported her own attachment style by questionnaire. Results showed that children whose mothers had more fearful avoidant attachment style could pass fewer theory of mind tasks, suggesting that a specific interaction pattern between children and their parents who have more fearful avoidant style has a detrimental effect on their development of understanding others’ minds.
