In an attempt to introduce this methodology to students at Kyushu\nLutheran College four new classes were added to the Career English Dept. with the goal of increasing\nstudents’ exposure to academic level English courses. This action research focuses on a United States\nHistory class and the unexpected challenges that were observed during the first semester that it was taught.\nAlso, descriptions of solutions to the challenges are given along with justification for the changes made.\nThe teacher’s observation notes and questionnaires given to students and casual conversations with them\nwere used in this qualitative research.
