In a previous study, advance preparation and guidance provided before the training were investigated. In this study, guidance interviews conducted after the practicum and summaries of the practicum were synthetically analyzed in order to examine the development of the \"self\" in students resulting from the training, as assessed from students' \"awareness\" through self-evaluation conducted after the training. The results indicted that there were differences in the awareness of students, depending on the type of facility where they trained. Moreover, analysis of interview data identified the following categories as factors in the awareness related to the development of the self: \"confusion,\" \"anger,\" \"anxiety about failure,\" \"episodes,\" \"awareness,\" \"a feeling of distance,\" \"relationship based on reliance,\" \"teamwork,\" \"being challenging,\" and \"expansion of understanding.\" In the training of future nursery teachers, it would be important to help students develop a clear image of a nursery teacher.
